Specialist Neuro Occupational Therapist

Janet is a South African trained, Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist. She has over 25 years of hands-on, international experience, in both the public and private sectors. She has worked in South Africa, America, Australia and now resides in England. Her clinical experience is complimented by 10 years of teaching and research for the Australasian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre (AROC) based at the University of Wollongong, Sydney, Australia and with UKRehabilitation Outcomes Centre (UKROC) based atNorthwick Park Hospital, England.

Early on in her career she developed a special interest in Neurological Rehabilitation, motivating her to complete a Masters in Neurological Rehabilitation atBrunel University, London. Her thesis was the development of the Extended Activities of Daily Living Items for the UK FIM +FAM, an outcome measure currently used within the UKROC dataset for neurological conditions. Her findings were published in Clinical Rehabilitation.

She currently continues to work in the role of lead Occupational Therapist for the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Service (CNRS) within the Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, providing client centred, goal based neurological rehabilitation to adults with a wide range of neurological health conditions. She is also an Associate Trainer for Harrison’s Training delivering post graduate therapy courses to clinicians.

Janet is registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
